The New Year is here and it’s a great time to press the “reset” button on our finances and set intentions for the next 12 months.
It can be helpful to start with thinking about how you currently FEEL about your finances, and how you would ideally like to feel.
Are you currently feeling fearful when you think of money? Time to identify why. Is it the fear of the unknown because you don’t actually know your current financial position because you have been keeping your head in the sand or it feels too complicated? Well, this could be the year that you face up to that fear and finally get a solid grasp on where your money goes. This will move you from feeling fearful to feeling grounded and informed about your money.
Are you currently feeling overwhelmed when you think about your finances? This might be an indicator that you need to simplify how you handle your money so you can move to a place of feeling calm and in control.
Are you currently feeling embarrassed – because you don’t feel financially savvy or you don’t feel like you are where you “should” be financially? This may be showing you that it’s time to upskill in this area (it’s easy, there are sooo many great podcasts and books to help you) and set some goals based on what YOU want, not what other people have.
It’s completely normal and very, very common to have feelings of fear, overwhelm and embarrassment when it comes to money, but please know that it doesn’t have to feel this way. With a little intentionality, you can move to a place of feeling calm, in control and optimistic about money.
Take some time today to identify your feelings around money and how you would like to feel instead. This will help direct your path when it comes to setting goals for the next 12 months.
